Opening a bank account

It is advised to open a bank account in France in order to receive housing benefits, reimbursement of healthcares, and salaries. All foreigners staying in France for more than three months can open a resident bank account, with a cheque book which is usually free, and a cash card or a credit card. To open a bank account, you need to provide

— a proof of identity (passport, visa, residence permit...)
— a written proof of residence (electricity or telephone bill, rent receipt...)

A minimum deposit of about 15 euros will also be requested.
