— Help before arrival

  • Two months before arrival, a researcher who has contacted the Europole will receive by postal mail a file presenting his host town, including
    • a map of the town
    • practical information essential to the preparation of the stay (guide of administrative formalities, information on accommodation, ...)
    • tourist guides
    • information about the Europole and Welcome Centre
  • In case of a difficulty, the researcher could also receive help concerning administrative formalities

— A privileged welcome: welcome pack and tutor

  • On arrival, the researcher will
    • be personally welcomed at the station or at the airport
    • accompanied to his accommodation
    • receive help for the first formalities
      • information on how to obtain a visa
      • help to find an accommodation
      • help in opening a bank account
      • information on social security, insurance, healthcares
      • information on schooling
      • information on cultural, social and linguistic activities
      • information on employment
    • The welcome pack is offered to researchers staying for more than one month.
    • The welcome pack of the Fondation Nationale Alfred Kastler (FNAK) is also offered to doctors staying for more than three months.

— A cultural integration

  • Three times a year, the Europole proposes an outing to foreign researchers to discover the host region.
  • Free tickets to conferences, activities and events organised by the Université du Temps Libre will also be offered.
  • Thanks to the support of the FNAK, doctors and their husband/spouse will be offered French classes.

  • Documentation resources: at the Europole, researchers can find information on issues such as visa, work permit, salary and taxes, pensions, healthcares, social security, accommodation, possibilities of employment for the spouse, etc.
  • Electronic newsletter: this free newsletter gives information on the activities of the Europole (outings, conferences, ..) but also international news in campuses, higher education and research. Foreign researchers can subscribe by sending an e-mail to inscription@europole-rennes.fr.
